MPI: On Farm Support Services

24 May 2022

MPI launched a new On Farm Support service as part of Budget 22 announcements. The service will offer more on-the-ground support for farmers and growers in the regions. On Farm Support will provide connections to the right resources, expertise and opportunities within the public and private sector, and industry organisations. The team will help navigate information and requirements around climate, water and the environment. At the outset, the service has managers based in the regions of:

  • Northland, Te Tai Tokerau
  • Taranaki
  • Nelson/Marlborough/Tasman, Te Tau Ihu
  • Southland, Murihiku

The team will soon be recruiting for staff to join the managers. The aim is to have 16 people on the ground by the end of August 2022 and then continue to grow and expand into further regions throughout 2023.

On Farm Support will complement the existing work already underway in the public and private advisory services sector. The team is committed to working with the whole sector as they continue to build this service.
