2017 Rural Professional of the Year Awards

The awards, now in their fifth year, were open to rural professionals from around New Zealand. This year eleven finalists competed for the three titles - the Beef + Lamb NZ Sheep and Beef Rural Professional of the Year title, Dairy NZ Dairy Rural Professional of the Year and Farmax Emerging Rural Professional of the Year.

The awards recognise and promote excellence within the rural profession, with winners receiving prize money to the value of $3,000 toward their Professional Development options.

2017 award winners are:

  • Phil Tither from AgFirst in Hastings - Beef + Lamb NZ Sheep and Beef Rural Professional of the Year
  • Paul Martin from Intelact in Whangarei - DairyNZ Dairy Rural Professional of the Year
  • Stacey Belton from AgFirst based in Hamilton - Farmax Emerging Rural Professional of the Year
