Seeking your help to develop a Hawke's Bay Drought Resilience Strategy

In light of the impact of the drought last year in the Hawke's Bay region and the risk of more frequent and severe droughts in the future, a number of government agencies and organisations have agreed to work with the rural profession and the farming sector to identify ways of improving the resilience of farmers to respond to such events.

To help improve farmers' capability to prepare for and respond to severe droughts and adverse events, we would like to invite you to a workshop to develop a strategy and action plan.

During the workshop we would like to explore why some farmers appeared to cope better than others, and identify reasons for this and how these lessons might be picked up by others. We would also like to look at tools available, or potential new tools, that can assist farmers in managing drought conditions.

We hope that you (or a representative of your organisation) can attend this half day workshop to develop a regional drought strategy for the Hawke's Bay.
