Please join us for a webinar presentation by Jan Etwell and Rebecca Green of Buddle Findlay as they provide an update and overview on the new regulatory regime in providing financial advice to clients that came into force on 15 March 2021. Our presenters will also briefly discuss key changes with the new Privacy Act 2020.

During the webinar we will cover the following topics:

  • Overview of key changes to the Financial Markets Conduct Act 2013 as relates to the giving of financial advice
  • Define what is and is not financial advice and examples of what this looks like in practice
  • What exemptions might rural professionals rely on (particularly for wholesale clients) when giving financial advice?
  • In what circumstances would a rural professional require a Financial Advice Provider licence in providing regulated financial advice to retail and/or wholesale clients and what other duties apply to licensees?
  • A brief overview of an organisation's obligations under the new Privacy Act 2020, including where unauthorised access to personal information has occurred
