Please join us as Professor Louis Schipper from the University of Waikato provides an overview on soil carbon and associated management practices in building soil carbon, as well as discuss current and future research programmes underway in the area.

Topic areas for this webinar include the following:

  • An overview of soil carbon and why it is important to New Zealand's farming systems
  • Outline of management practices for changing rates of soil carbon accumulation across pastoral systems
  • What the latest research is telling us about building carbon under irrigation
  • The challenges of measuring changes in soil carbon at farm and national scales
  • Update on future research programme in soil carbon, including the recently funded inventory assessment project
