Join us for an update from Hawke's Bay Regional Council on regional plan changes affecting Hawke's Bay farmers and growers. We also have the opportunity to learn more about a newly developed tool to help optimise Nitrogen use, as well as receiving a research update on nutrient leaching.

Our presenters include:

  • Diana Mathers from Foundation for Arable Research - Diane will talk about the very successful Sustainable Farming Fund (SFF) project to develop "a quick N test" for farmers and growers that will improve decision-making around nutrient use; and also the fluxmeter programme of work, which supports good management practice.
  • Mary-Anne Baker from Hawke's Bay Regional Council - Mary-Anne will give an update on how the TANK Plan Change project is progressing, including what recommendations have been received and an outline of how the nutrient issues will affect the community going forward.
  • Shane Gilmer from Hawke's Bay Regional Council - Shane will provide members with an update on the Tukituki Plan Change 6 consenting process and timelines. This includes an update on how many properties are compliant and non-compliant, plans for implementing auditing and which systems leach the most.

Join us after the meeting as we adjourn to the Cartel HQ Cafe in Farming House (across the road) for networking and nibbles (cash bar will be available).
