2:00pm Welcome & presentations

2:15pm Mark Bridges - Southern Pastures Ltd - Mark will discuss his career from farm consultancy to senior associate director of Southern Pastures Ltd. In his presentation Mark will discuss some highlights and the things that haven?t worked so well throughout his career.

3:00pm Panel discussion guests -

  • Celine Waters - Waikato University Agriculture student
  • Laura Keenan - Agronomist with Agricom based in the Manawatu. Laura is the FARMAX Rural Professional of the Year 2018 and is in the early stages of her career
  • Ian Tarbottom - Has worked for AgResearch, DairyNZ and is currently Science Extension Manager at Ballance Agri-nutrients based in the Waikato
  • Graham Parker - Associate with Coach Approach Rural Ltd. Prior to this role Graham had 37 years of rural banking in the Waikato region

The Panel will discuss their careers, challenges, and thoughts on the role of rural professionals in the future. There will be plenty of time for Q & A and discussion..

3:45pm Afternoon tea

4:00pm John Bluett - Farmer. Prior to going farming, John worked as a Dairy Board Consulting Officer. John will tell us what he and other farmers want from their rural professionals. He will share experiences working with a range of rural professionals, and outline what he believes makes a great rural professional.

4:45pm Networking activity - Activity to allow attendees of the forum to get to know each other better. Dont miss this opportunity to expand your network and meet other rural professionals.

5:30pm Pre-dinner drinks

6:00pm Dinner and guest speaker Lain Jagger. Lain will discuss his career so far including being the CEO of Zespri at a time the Psa bacteria was discovered in New Zealand. Lain will discuss his current role as Chairman of the Primary Sector Council and their work in advising the government on issues confronting the primary industry.
