1:30pm Branch AGM (no cost to attend AGM only)

2:00pm Welcome & presentations

2:15pm Mark Bridges - Southern Pastures Ltd Mark will discuss his career from farm consultancy to senior associate director of Southern Pastures Ltd. Mark will cover what has been the highlights and the things that haven't worked so well throughout his career.

3:00pm Panel discussion - The Panel will discuss their careers, challenges, their thoughts on the future for rural professionals. There will be plenty of time for Q & A and discussion.

  • Celine Waters - Waikato University Agriculture student
  • Laura Keenan - Agronomist with Agricom based in the Manawatu is in the early stages of her professional career
  • Ian Tarbottom - Has worked for AgResearch, DairyNZ and is currently Science Extension Manager at Ballance Agri-nutrients based in the Waikato
  • Graham Parker - Associate Coach Approach Rural Ltd, prior to this role Graham had 37 years of Rural Banking in the Waikato region

3:45pm Afternoon tea

4:00pm John Bluett - Farmer, Prior to going farming, John worked as a Dairy Board Consulting Officer. John will tell us what he and other farmers want from their rural professionals. He will share experiences working with rural professionals that were good and some not so good.

4:45pm Networking activity - Activity to allow attendees of the forum to get to know each other better.

6:00pm Dinner and guest speaker Lain Jagger, Lain will discuss his career so far including being the CEO of Zespri when the Psa bacteria was discovered in New Zealand. Lain will cover his current role as chairman of the Primary Sector Council and the work they are doing to advise the government of issues confronting the primary industry.
