  • Paul and Kevin Schuler 106 McKinley Road Te Aroha
  • CPD points: 2.00

Come and visit Paul & Kevin Schuler's dairy cow and milking goat farm. The farm is 216ha eff with 450 cows calving in the autumn and 1250 goats kidding in the spring. The Schuler's integrate the two businesses by designating more land area for the cows through the autumn and winter, then less area in the spring to support the milking goat operation.

The Schuler's will discuss:

  • How the business evolved
  • Labour efficiencies generated from the system
  • Crops used to feed supply and demand is met throughout the season
  • How and why they use OAD milking with the dairy cows
  • Their purchasing policy for empty cows
  • Using wasted goat feed to supplement the cows
