Responding to feedback and requests from our members, the NZIPIM Canterbury branch committee is bringing to you an event to discuss and ask anything you need to know about Mycoplasma Bovis to be better equipped to support your farmer clients

A panel of experts and people involved at the 'coal face' of the M. bovis response will provide a short presentation and then answer all questions from the audience - so come prepared with your questions!

The panel will include professionals from DairyNZ, Beef+Lamb, MPI, Rural Support Trust and private practice.

Discussion topics:

  • Support for farmer wellness
  • Further definition of categories (Restricted properties, Notice of Directions, etc.) for properties subject to;
    • Timeframes, challenges, and mitigation for each category
    • Resources available to assist both dairy farmers and support farmers (and businesses)
  • Understanding the compensation process (dairy and dairy support)
    • Examples
    • Templates
    • Resources
    • Timeframes
  • Ongoing management both for dairy and support businesses
    • Buying of replacement herds
    • Buying of additional stock to replenish "clean" herds
    • Trading of stock - dairy beef systems, herd bulls, calf and heifer grazing
