Here's what's happening for our Taranaki farmers ... a region-wide initiative to improve health

Mineral Systems has milk fever as a focus, as farmers say it is No1 for adding stress over calving. Reducing and preventing milk fever and related disease is the starting point to addressing fertility in herds ... They would like Taranaki to show how a region can work together for a Milk Fever Free Taranaki goal and then showcase the success to the industry!

We have 2 speakers who are passionate about seeing science in action. There will be plenty of time for discussion after their talks.

Pat Poletti, Veterinarian Mineral Systems - Pat's focus is on the link between diet and disease risk. His farming and clinical experiences have led him to seek answers for farmers battling with milk fever and high empty rates. Pat will share how his approach will add value to existing animal health programmes.

John Roche Principal Scientist, Animal Science, DairyNZ - John is responsible for leading animal science at DairyNZ. His particular interest is in dairy cow nutrition, with specific expertise in transition cow nutrition. John will share research from DairyNZ and enlighten us from his own experiences as he addresses the milk fever issue industry wide.

Please Note: this event follows a field day at the DTT Stratford Demonstration Farm starting at 12:30pm and covering the current Winter pad trial on the farm.
