Please join us for an update on the state of agricultural related research into greenhouse gas emissions in New Zealand. Mark Aspin, CEO of the Pastoral Greenhouse Gas Research Consortium (PGGRF) and Harry Clark, CEO of the NZ Agriculture Greenhouse Gas Research Centre (NZAGRC) will be providing an update on the latest research into this important area for the agricultural sector.

Agriculture and livestock produce about half of New Zealand's total greenhouse gas emissions from methane and nitrous oxide produced on-farm and by industry. The Government is working toward a goal of a Net Zero Emissions Economy by 2050, with a focus on the primary industries to reduce emissions, which will be in accordance with milestones to be set by new independent Climate Commission. It is important for members to understand and stay current on policy developments around GHG emissions and various workstreams underway in reducing emissions in informing your clients.

PGGRF and NZAGRC jointly work together in undertaking research into greenhouse gas emissions. A series of fact sheets explaining in more detail what they do and on some of the research underway can be found here.
